Working with Professor William Grant -- particularly doing research in a marine lab, and diving for hermit crabs to study their ecology -- was inspirational for me. Prof. Grant was looking at climate change before it was a hot button. His ideas enhanced my world view. Working with him and other scientists (especially my colleague, Raymond Francis) and learning their methods launched me toward a career in science journalism. This field has been a significant part of my life ever since, even into the pandemic years.
